The only day I shared about how I tried to use the no poo method and it didn’t work for me. See, I enjoy trying to find more natural ways to do things. However, as I stated in that post, I will never be fully natural.

I try to be very conscience of the products that I choose to do my DIY beauty recipes. I want to include items that are beneficial to your skin! I always try to explain why I choose what in each DIY beauty recipe as well. So here it goes!
Lemons: Lemons are awesome for your skin. They exfoliate, remove blackheads, fade age spots, and brighten your skin. You do have to use it more consistently to see results. A few words of the wise: it might sting, if you can’t tolerate it, don’t use it. It can make you more susceptible to the sun & therefore potentially burn easier. That’s why it’s wise to use it at night & always wear sun screen. (source, source)
Olive Oil: Extra virgin olive oil is great for your skin. It moisturizes, helps with skin elasticity, and help repair skin damage. Not to mention your skin feels great after!
Sugar: Although it’s got a bad rep as far as consuming it goes, it can be great for your skin. For your skin, consider brown sugar because it’s smaller and soft and won’t be as harsh on your sensitive facial skin. Sugar is also a humectant which draws from the environment to your skin. Lavender Essential Oil: Lavender EO has antiseptic and antifungal properties which is great for your face and has been used to treat acne, eczema, and wrinkles. (source) It also smells divine and is very soothing!
Lemon sugar face scrub recipe
Okay now the ‘recipe’ for this lemon sugar face scrub using just the 3 ingredients (the fourth is optional). You guys, it can be done in minutes. I say face scrub because these ingredients are great for your skin, but it can be used on really any part of your body! Here’s what you’ll need and approximately how much:
- 1 tsp Olive oil (or your favorite carrier oil)
- 1/2 a Lemon
- 4 drops Lavender Essential Oil (completely optional – there are some skin benefits & it smells lovely, but the scrub works just fine with out it!)
Combine the sugar, EVOO, and the lavender e.o. (if you’re adding it) and stir it around. The oil eases the abrasion of the sugar and moisturizes your skin. Then dip the lemon in the sugar mixture, like shown above, and start rubbing it on your face. Rub it all over, massage it a little bit, you can even let it sit for a bit, then rinse with warm water. If you need to, add moisturizer afterwards. I would not recommend doing this treatment in the morning because lemon heightens your skin’s sensitivity to the sun.[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1T2Z-gsaFsE[/embedyt]
